On the Meeting of the SCO Defense Ministers

On July 28, 2021, a Meeting of Defense Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states was held in Dushanbe under the chairmanship of the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan, Colonel-General Sherali Mirzo, which was attended by the heads of the defense departments of India, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan and Belarus, as an observer country at the SCO, as well as the Secretary General of the SCO and the leadership of the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Center. The Belarusian delegation was represented by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus, Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin.

During the meeting, issues related to strengthening cooperation within the SCO, the current situation in the region and the world, ensuring security and stability in Afghanistan and on its borders with the SCO member states were discussed.
