About the biometric documents of the Republic of Belarus
01.09.2021Dear citizens of the Republic of Belarus!
On September 1, 2021 the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus “On Biometric Documents” which stipulates the issue of (biometric) identification cards and biometric passports, has come into force.
Meanwhile, the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Tajikistan will continue to carry out procedures regarding:
• issue (exchange) of passports for permanent residence outside the Republic of Belarus;
• exchange of passports for the citizens, permanently residing in the Republic of Belarus, who left the Republic of Belarus for a temporary stay (at presence of the registration mark in the passport at the place of residence in the Republic of Belarus)
• one-time renewal of the passport of a citizen of the Republic of Belarus permanently residing in the Republic of Belarus.
According to the Decree the consular fee for the issue (exchange) of the identification card amounts to 25 euro, issue (exchange) of the biometric passport for the citizens under the age of fourteen, — 40 euro, other citizens – 100 euro.
It should be noted that once having received an identification card, hereinafter citizens are no longer entitled to receive (return) a valid (non-biometric) passport.
A biometric passport may be issued either at presence of an identification card or in case of simultaneous document submission for the issue of a biometric passport and an identification card. A citizen can have not more than two biometric passports.
The citizens with passports for permanent residence outside Belarus (РР series) and those registered at the consular office of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Tajikistan will receive their ID card and biometric passport for the first time at our Embassy.
The citizens who have not registered their permanent residence outside the Republic of Belarus and possess an “internal series” passport will receive an identification card and a biometric passport for the first time at the Citizenship and Migration Department of the place of registration of the citizen at the place of residence on the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
Subsequent exchange of the above-mentioned documents may be carried out both by the Embassy and the internal affairs authorities without reference to the place of permanent residence of a citizen.
Those citizens, who have registered permanent residence outside the Republic of Belarus through the Embassy after 01.09.2021, are excluded from the registry record at the place of residence in the Republic of Belarus on the basis of the notification of the relevant foreign institution, sent to the regional (Minsk) Department of Citizenship and Migration at the latest place of registration.
Nevertheless, due to the existing restrictions for entering most of the foreign countries caused by a difficult epidemiological situation, it is not possible to deliver the necessary equipment, set it up and proceed with gathering of biometric and personal data and accepting applications for the issuance of biometric documents at the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Tajikistan as of September 1, 2021.
