How to get to Belarus

Belarus is located in the center of Europe and has common borders with Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. You can come to the country via airplane, railway or automobile transport.

AIRPLANE

Most of the travelers arrive in Belarus by airplane. There are airports in every regional city, all of them are eligible for operating international flights.

The country’s largest National Airport “Minsk” is located about 30 km away from the capital. After passing passport control, you can reach the city by bus (makes trips every hour), taxi (about Euro 20) or by a rental car. In addition, there is another airport in the boundaries of Minsk which operates regular flights to Moscow, as well as charter flights.

RAILWAY

You can come to Belarus by train from almost any major city of Europe and CIS. Passenger train service connects the republic with Amsterdam, Basel, Frankfurt am Main, Berlin, Cologne, Warsaw, Prague, Bratislava, Budapest, Varna, Bucharest, Vienna and others, as well as the capitals and administrative centers of Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Lithuania and Kazakhstan.

The route network inside the country covers over 2.100 localities. 21 large railway stations with developed infrastructure and a complex of services for passengers operate in the republic.
 
BUSES

Most international buses to Belarus arrive at the bus stations of the capital. They are three of them in Minsk: “Centralny”, “Moskovsky” and “Vostochny”.

CAR

The Republic of Belarus is located at the crossroads of the major transport routes which connect Western Europe with the East, the Black Sea regions with the Baltic States. The territory of Belarus is crossed by two cross-European transport corridors: number II (East — West) and number IX (North — South) with a IXB branch.

Road M-1/E30 Brest — Minsk – border of Russian Federation is part of the cross-European transport corridor number II (Berlin — Warsaw — Minsk — Moscow — Nizhny Novgorod), connecting Germany, Poland, Belarus and Russia. Today the technical parameters of the road M-1/E30 comply with the international standards, it uses the most modern technologies and traffic management means. Most of it is given the status of the road for cars, and therefore, the permitted maximum speed is increased here to up to 120 km/h.

Road M-8/E95 border of the Russian Federation — Vitebsk — Gomel — border of Ukraine crosses the territory of the republic from north to south, has a length of 456 km and is part of the cross-European transport corridor number IX, which connects Finland, Lithuania, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece.

Branch of the corridor IXB Gomel — Minsk — Vilnius — Klaipeda provides access from regions of Eastern Ukraine and Central Russia to specialized seaports of Klaipeda, Ventspils and Kaliningrad.
