CEC: Belarus is not creating polling stations abroad
24.01.2025CEC: Belarus is not creating polling stations abroad
10 January, Minsk /BelTA/. Belarus is not creating polling stations abroad. This was stated to journalists by CEC Chairman Igor Karpenko, a BelTA correspondent reports.
“Belarus is not creating polling stations abroad. This legislative innovation is due to the lack of security measures at polling stations that were previously created in other countries, and the reduction in the number of diplomatic corps employees. We are not the only country that has such experience,” Igor Karpenko said.
At the same time, conditions have been created in Belarus for organizing voting for citizens of the Republic of Belarus permanently residing abroad and registered with the consulate, the head of the CEC noted. “Such citizens will be able to vote at one of 6 polling stations that will be located in Minsk and five regional centers. The addresses of these polling stations are posted on the CEC website. We hope that neighboring countries will not create obstacles for our citizens to cross the border in order to exercise their electoral rights,” Igor Karpenko emphasized.
The presidential elections in Belarus are scheduled for January 26, 2025.
